Score
HAWKS: 8
WAYLAND UNION HIGH SCHOOL: 0

The Hawks bested Wayland Union by a score of 8-0 in an OK Gold matchup on Tuesday night.

Senior Brandon Underwood opened the scoring from the 18 following a through ball from sweeper Ryan Scott in the 9th minute.

Just 3 minutes later, Underwood and Mitchal Rosendall played a combination in the box that opened up Sophomore Matt DeVries' run to the far post, where he finished a one-touch shot on a ball slid across the 6 by Rosendall.

Carlos Castello scored his second goal of the season in the 22nd minute after an assist from Underwood.

In the 32nd minute, Underwood received a pass at the mid-stripe and turned quickly.  He saw loads of space in front of him and accelerated, carrying the ball until the pressure met him around the top of the 18, where he proceeded to fire a shot into the upper corner of the goal for a 4-0 FHE lead.

Just 23 seconds into the second half, Jon DeVries finished a penalty kick after a Wayland handball in the box.

Mitchal Rosendall scored his first goal of the night in the 47th minute after Underwood and Jeremy Ireland worked to slide a ball across the goalmouth right to an open Rosendall for an easy finish.

The Hawks went up 7-0 in the 57th minute when Junior Alex Harrison scored from close range, following a nice play on the endline by Brandon McCoy and a beautiful ball played by Lucas Fix.

The mercy rule kicked in at 8-0 when McCoy scored directly from a free kick at the top of the box in the 74th minute.

The Hawks' defense played well in front of goalkeepers Kip Forness (3 saves) and Nick Hopkins (4 saves), who had strong performances to preserve the shutout.

FHE moves to 5-1-1 on the season and will travel to Ottawa Hills on Thursday for another OK Gold match.  Kickoff is 5pm.
