The Hawks travelled to Zeeland on Friday for a matchup with the Dux of Zeeland West. 

FHE came out quickly, applying good pressure on the Dux defense.  Sophomore Jenna Winkel put the Hawks on the scoreboard in the 17th minute, capitalizing on a chance in the 18 that was set-up by Morgan Behm.

The Hawks continued to attack, but managed to hit the goalposts and crossbar three times in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Again, it was Winkel who found the back of the net.  Just 3 minutes into the second half, Layne Vandenberg found Winkel, who put the Hawks up by a score of 2-0.

Hawks' Sophomore Jessie Fatum scored in the 62nd minute to put the Hawks up 3-0.

Zeeland West regrouped and managed to hit the goalposts twice in the remaining minutes, but failed to score, resulting in a 3-0 final score.

The JV Hawks were defeated by a score of 4-0 in the earlier game.

The Hawks move to 4-4-0 and will host conference rival South Christian on Monday, ranked #9 in the state's Division 3.  Varsity kickoff is at 6:45pm.
