MISCA Meet

The boys Forest Hills cooperative swim team had a terrific showing at the MISCA (Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association) meet on Saturday, February 12th at Eastern Michigan University.  This is the one swim meet where athletes from all around the state get to compete against other swimmers from all three divisions.  The time standards were even more competitive this year so it was harder to earn a spot at the table!  It was a fasted-paced and exciting meet where the swimmers got to “check each other out” to see who will be the real competition at States in just 4 weeks!

There were some terrific individual achievements and some outstanding relays times. Here were just some of the highlights:

• Brad Klanderman went 1:46.73 in the 200 Freestyle which placed him 6th in this event and was his personal best.
• Nate Fagen dropped close to 2 seconds in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:02.88 and placed him 16th in this event.  Nate will now move on to States in the 200 IM!
• Paul Kersjes dropped significant time the 100 Freestyle to end up with a time of 49.39 which placed him 9th in this event and gave him a state cut time to look forward to another great swim in March!
• Brandon Muma also dropped time in the 100 Freestyle to take 5th place with a time of 48.31
• The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Brandon Muma, Brad Klanderman, Roger White and Hayden Cassidy placed 3rd with a time of 1:29.94.  This currently places them 2nd in the state amongst Division I schools.
• Griffin Billups dropped time yet again in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.93 that placed him 8th overall. 
• The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Brad Klanderman, Brandon Muma, Hayden Cassidy and Paul Kersjes took an exciting 2nd place finish, dropping over 2 seconds to finish with a time of 3:16.46.  AND the icing on the cake was Brad’s split gave him a state qualifying time in the 100 Freestyle!

We look forward to 4 more weeks of hardwork that will pay off at the State meet on March 11th and 12th!
